Toyota Fortuner 2017

The new Fortuner has appealing exterior design and it looks modern and new. At the same time, there are several new design elements that make it look new. The interiors are also all new making it look appealing and fresh. There are multiple new features that have been made available on the new SUV. Toyota has been working on the quality, and premium-ness of this SUV.
There are two engine options on offer on this new SUV. There is a 2.7-litre petrol engine that comes with five-speed manual and automatic options. Other than this, there is also a 2.8-litre diesel engine that has both six-speed manual and automatic transmissions as well. These are all new engines and the Japanese automaker should even get the 2.4-litre diesel engine on it in the near future. Toyota is offering just one variant on the Fortuner 2017 and this comes with different engine options and drivetrain modes. There is 4×2 on all petrols and automatics, while the manual diesel has 4×2 and 4×4 options. The difference in price is only for the engine size and transmissions.

The new Fortuner gets a complete design overhaul and now borrows its looks from Lexus. The design is busy and the car gets harp and angular contours throughout. The fascia sports a new two-slat grille that extends up to the headlamps with chrome flanks that taper over the headlights. Toyota has equipped the Fortuner with LED daytime-running lamps and Bi-LED projector headlamps. These sweptback projector headlamps are surrounded by chrome embellishments to add to the bling factor.

The bumper is redesigned and gets a new black air dam while the fog lamp housings are surrounded by thick curved aluminium accents. On the side, Toyota has given the new Fortuner a floating pillar-less roof design that makes the SUV look quite interesting and attractive. The rear end also gets a similar slim-cut treatment with sleek tail lamps. The SUV is available with 17-inch and 18-inch wheel options.
And it’s not just the exterior, but Toyota has completely redesigned the cabin of the Fortuner as well. The dashboard layout is new and the instrument cluster comes with a multi-information display. The centre console is vertically-oriented with a touch screen entertainment system, automatic AC controls, and a lot of storage spaces. The new three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel comes with audio controls and the car gets a new key fob. Higher variants are likely to come with rear parking sensors, keyless smart entry and start, downhill assist control, a powered tailgate and 18-inch alloys with highway tyres.

the old SUV was all about tough looks, the new Fortuner looks more sophisticated and modern. The new Fortuner’s high bonnet gives it an intimidating presence. The large chrome grille looks macho and the terrific-looking all-LED headlights with daytime running lights give it great visual drama. The flared wheel arches and large 18-inch wheels dominate the profile. At the rear the design is more generic and the thick chrome strip joining the tastefully designed LED tail lamps gives it a Lexus like appearance.
The new Fortuner shares its underpinnings with the Innova Crysta, which is a heavily modified version of the original ladder-frame chassis. To make the new ladder-frame extremely rigid, Toyota has added more cross-members and additional welding points. On the flip side this has made the chassis much heavier than before and despite the weight saving through using high tensile steel for the body, the 2016 Fortuner still weighs nearly 200kg more than the old car.

The tail lamps of the Toyota Fortuner 2017 are also sleek and carry forward the same theme at the rear too. The rear spoiler is well integrated in the design. There are aero fins on the tail lamps. The 4×2 models get 17-inch tyres and the 4×4 has 18-inch. This is what makes it look different. With the 17-inch wheels, the tyre seems to leave out some empty space, making it look smaller in size.
